Manhattan Yoetzet Halachah
The Jewish Center is pleased to partner with Nishmat’s Miriam Glaubach Center in bringing the Manhattan Yoetzet Halacha Program to The JC this fall. Manhattan’s observant Jewish women will have the unique opportunity of having Atara Eis, Yoetzet Halacha, on staff at The JC, where Atara will assist the rabbis by advising women on sensitive issues of Taharat Hamishpacha and health, and will offer monthly programs on a wide array of women’s health and Halacha topics.

Yoatzot Halacha are chosen for their extensive Torah scholarship, leadership ability, and deep religious commitment. To become certified as a Yoetzet, each student devotes two years (over 1000 hours) to intensive study with rabbinic authorities in Taharat Hamishpacha at Nishmat, the Jerusalem Center for Advanced Jewish Study for Women. There they also receive training from experts in modern medicine, psychology, gynecology, infertility, women's health, family dynamics and sexuality.

Atara Eis holds a B.A. from Yeshiva University's Stern College in Judaic Studies and an Associate Degree in Music. She is in the final stages of completing her M.S. from Yeshiva University’s Azrieli Graduate School for Jewish Education, and completed its Graduate Program in Advanced Talmudic Studies for Women. While living in Jerusalem and learning at Nishmat's Keren Ariel Institute to become a Yoetzet Halacha, Atara also served on the faculty of Midreshet Lindenbaum. She currently teaches Talmud and Tanach at Stern Hebrew High School in Philadelphia, PA.  Additionally, Atara works as a Yoetzet Halacha at Kemp Mill Synagogue in Silver Spring, MD.  Atara and her husband Rabbi Rafi Eis are the proud parents of Ahuva, Yechezkel and Ephraim.  Atara Eis can be reached at 610-639-7474 or at ataraeis@gmail.com.
