Hospitality

The Hospitality Committee has been re-established to promote the value of hachnasat orchim, welcoming guests, and to create an environment of warmth in the shul by welcoming newcomers and members each week. In addition, the committee works with community volunteers who open their homes on Shabbat to ensure that members and guests have a place to share a Shabbat meal in a friendly environment.

The committee proactively reaches out to new members by networking them with Jewish Center host families for Shabbat and holiday meals and by directing them to areas of Jewish Center educational and social programming specifically suited to their needs and interests. Committee members also serve as information resources to help new members feel more at home in New York City if they have recently moved to Manhattan.

Finally, the Hospitality Committee coordinates a semi-annual New Members' Kiddush for new members to become acquainted with JC clergy and staff, lay leadership, and to meet other new members.

If you would like to invite guests to your home for Shabbat meals, if you would like an invitation, or if you like to be a part of this committee, please contact:
