The Archives committee works to preserve the rich and storied history of which The JC prides itself and makes it accessible to all.  

Did you know that the first wedding ever held at The Jewish Center took place on Dec 22nd 1918 when Estelle Hurewitz, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Marks Hurewitz, married Joseph Lamport? Marks Hurewitz was a JC  board member at that time. In later years Joseph’s brother, Arthur would become a leading investment banker & economist who was friends with FDR. He was also a board member of The JC. He passed away on November 8th 1940 and his funeral was held at The Jewish Center. I know all of these things because of the extensive archives of The Jewish Center. 

How to Get Involved?
With our 100th anniversary quickly approaching we need volunteers to go through more of our archives. Also if any of you have items (either originals or we can make copies) that we should put in the archives please notify the office.
